My idea of globalization isn`t ‘unification’. I think that it is meeting people with completely different cultures; seeing their lifestyle and morals. It is experiencing the diversity of the human race, and accepting their culture. That way, we`ll find new knowledge, points-of view, and ways of innovation.

To make it easier, it`s seeing the world as something like a small classroom. There`s a bully, nerd, narcissist, introvert, and a lot more characteristics that one might find in a class. There are people you can get along with and ones you don`t like. However, you can`t not communicate with each other even if you hate a person so much if you want to maintain the peace of the classroom. You can`t just ignore that person and cause hostility in the small community. You need to think, “How do you maintain peace in that environment?” I think asking yourself that question and finding a way to get along with each other even with our differences in ideas is ‘globalization’.

A hint to make this easier as one that sees Japan for a foreign country is understanding that what is normal in Japan is abnormal in the world. If we have awareness that we, ourselves, are unique to the world, we can come to accept the contrasting morals of people around the world. First, I believe that we shouldn`t get tied by the idea of ‘normal’ and ‘abnormal’. As long as we have that, we will never be able to understand each other.
